Timber Species

Timber is a versatile, natural material. Each species
has a distinct grain, colour, strength, durability, hardness
and a host of other characteristics.

The Thorogoods difference…
At Thorogoods we have extensive experience of sourcing, stocking
and machining hardwood and softwood for our customers including
fine furniture and instrument makers, kitchen manufacturers, flooring
specialists, traditional house builders and joinery manufacturers.

We spend time with all our chosen sawmills to ensure quality and
consistency and to us these are more important criteria than price.
Our timber knowledge is extensive and we often help our customer
not only with timber choice and specification but also optimisation of yield
and the option to cut and machine to our customers exact requirements.
